Bang! is a traveling art festival hosted by Kultuurkaffee in Brussels. Every year, a new curator or collective is invited to curate the festival in a special location in the city. In 2017, I was invited by visual artist and allround musician Joris Van De Moortel to join the edition of BANG! he curated. In response to his call to thematize the proverb ‘parels voor de zwijnen’ (pearls before swine).

After getting invited by Joris Van De Moortel in 2017, the organization asked me to curate the entire 2018 edition of the festival together with photographer Tina Herbots. For this festival we came up with the concept:Copain/Copine. The aim was to construct a festival that accommodates friendship and the meeting of different scenes. What started as a multimedia festival with bands, art and dancers fell apart when 2 months before the opening. The location set us up. We had to relocate the entire festival. With almost no time left, we reached out to different organizations in Brussels to adopt our line up that we already had confirmed. In this way the bands could still perform but we had to skip all the visual artists and dancers. In the end 3/4th of our initial line up got adopted by: C12, VK concerts, Rits Cafe & de Beursschouwburg.
